Happy colors
Today has been rainy & gray but I squeezed in some play time to paint my blank matryoshkas in very cheery colors.

Thank you SO much for all the book love!
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that y'all are so enthusiastic about it.
Here are a couple of outtakes I shot for the cover.
The one that did make the cover was my super favorite from the start
even though it doesn't have a bird on it! ;-)

Matryoshkas Redux

Matrioshkas redoux
Russian Dolls
I started painting these Russian dolls a little over four years ago while we were living a little cabin in the woods and never got to finish them. I dug them out of a box yesterday and decided to do something new altogether. But first they new a new coat of white acrylic paint.

I'm in love with all the pretty ferns, mosses, pennyworts and tiny mushrooms growing in the forest. These are just a few I picked up to be pressed.

Birdsong

Birdcall
Watercolor & digital collage. Inspired by all the different beautiful bird calls I've been listening to lately. Here's a bird song I recorded during one of my walks with Turbo. I'm hoping one of you might recognize it.
To me it sounds like a rusty swing at the playground :-)

****Update: Thank you guys! You nailed it!
It's a russet-nightingale thrush Catharus Occidentallis.
Now that I know what it looks like I'll keep an eye out with my camera on my next walk in the woods.

Lots of bird watching, painting & sitting by the fire. One of the perks of living at 9400 ft/2800mts above sea level is that it's always cool enough to light a fire.

Stitching On The Porch

Stitching on the Porch
Mixed media/collage piece I finished today while remembering what a wonderful time I had last summer with Margie & Sonia on Margie's magical porch :-)
